The Chan-Davies Art Prize was introduced in February 2015 by Chan + Hori Contemporary Co-Founders Angie Chan and Nick Davies.

The Chan-Davies Art Prize is open to all final year students of LASALLE’s BA (Hons) Fine Arts and the graduating cohort of MA Fine Arts programmes.

For each of the two categories, the prize includes a SGD 15,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition supported by Chan + Hori Contemporary to take place within 12 months of the award. The art prize hopes to encourage artists in their early career with this kind of financial support and exposure so that it can recognise and reward promising young artists from LASALLE, and over time help to cultivate the next generation of local artists.

The annual award will be promoted in January each year, with the winner being announced at the opening of the College’s annual graduation showcase, The LASALLE Show, each May. Eligible students are invited to submit up to three original artworks in either 2-D or 3-D media. Artworks will be judged based on originality, conceptual rigour, and coherence between the concept and the finished work.

The judging panel included Khai Hori, LASALLE Programme Leaders Hazel Lim (BA(Hons)) and Ian Woo (MA Fine Arts). This year, the jury also included Honor Harger, Executive Director of ArtScience Museum, Singapore.

For questions, LASALLE BA Students should contact Hazel Lim (hazel.lim@lasalle.edu.sg), and LASALLE MA Students should contact Ian Woo (ian.woo@lasalle.edu.sg) and Adeline Kueh (adeline.kueh@lasalle.edu.sg).
